Falling in love with a man twenty years younger and locking yourself in a room waiting for his call might seem outrageous. It could become an old-fashioned portrait of love—or a starting point for beginning to demystify it. This is a story told through eight encounters, blending memories and songs projected through a fragile correspondence. We don’t want a costume or a mask, but her essence as a woman. It’s a constant leap between actor and character. She’s tired of waiting and no longer believes in love the way she once did—now, she sees it as a mere whim.
Notas. / Notes on the piece.
Querido Capricho speaks of waiting, of the fear that no one will ever say *I love you* again, of unrequited love, of an intergenerational love story. Amanda’s world has been reduced to a room “without doors” and a dog that won’t stop barking—Hercules. This waiting echoes the figure of Penelope or Cocteau’s *The Human Voice*. But this time, we wanted her to speak with her friends, the girls. To speak with our own inner woman. To understand love as a whim, as a form of liberation. To strip away all the romanticism we’ve inherited from movies, novels, and television series. And to try to chart a new path—one filled with light and self-care. Sure, we could have chosen to talk about love in the age of Tinder, but we needed distance in order to search through difference, to find ourselves in other possible worlds. They say love conquers all—but really, it is time that conquers love.

«My relationship with writing began at an early age, when I was 13, prompted by a literary competition. Since then, writing has been a constant presence in my life, although it has never been separate from another of my great passions: stage direction. My work in the performing arts completely shapes the way I write, leading me to develop an increasingly visual, physical and performative dramaturgy, in which the text is written, materialised and unfolded in space. Rather than offering certainties, this is a space that allows for doubt, the suspension of time and constant questioning. I like to think of dramaturgy as an expanding territory that enables the exploration of new formats and new strategies for approaching the task of ‘writing’ beyond words. My work draws inspiration from the worlds of Angélica Liddell, FC Bergman, El Conde de Torrefiel, Marcos Morau, Sergio Blanco and La Ribot, among others. I admire them and draw from their work because I feel they are creators whose stage proposals open up cracks, generate friction and expand the imaginary of our theatre scene.» (Tomás Cabané).
